Buying a home in the Sacramento area these days isn’t easy depending on your situation.  There is a lot of competition for homes as prices have dropped making the entire region a good value.  While prices have come up in some areas of the region, homes in the higher price ranges still have a bit of value to lose.

Before going out and looking at too many homes, you should know about how much home you can qualify for.  Generally, most people already know what they can afford but you won’t know what you’re qualified for until you begin working with a lender.  Additionally, there could be some credit issues that will need to be cleared up before a loan can be obtained.

The best way to do this is the get pre-qualified with a lender before you do anything else.  I have several good referrals if you need one.

Most sellers require a pre-qualification letter before they will entertain any financed offer.  Always contact a lender first.
