The Highest January Sales In 10 Years

More Homes Sold In January

january_homes_sales_by_yearThis January had the highest sales of any January going back to 1999.  2005, the height of the market in sales and values, came in second with almost 1300 sales in Sacramento real estate vs. this January that had 1496 sales for the month.

This market needs a psycologist!  When you look at the historical numbers, the data is astounding, at least it has been for me.  What looks like a gradual run up in sales and then it comes crashing down about as fast as it could to then rebound, in sales anyway, the higher levels than we’ve seen.

There is so much speculation going on about what was going to happen with the new president and the economy but that didn’t seem to keep people from buying in December.  I know my business has increased and I’m busier than I’ve ever been in the industry.

Average Yearly Sales

Over the last 10 years, the Sacramento real estate market has churned out an average of 17,000 sales per year, roughly.  I would expect something around there for this year.  Having said that, I don’t know what the rest of the year will hold, no one does but it’s fun to try and figure it out.  February is beginning slowly with sales so far being down from January numbers.
