California’s Proposition 8
I’ve been resisting writing an article about this subject as I generally feel that politics and religion should be kept between one’s own 4 walls. I think Thomas Jefferson said something to that effect and I agree completely.
However, I’m compelled to comment on this as I believe that the people who are in support of passing Prop. 8 with a yes vote are grossly wrong. The ads that I’ve heard in support openly discriminate against a segment of the population. Discrimination against anyone for race, creed, sexual preference, religious preference or whatever is wrong. Period. (in my opinion)
The ads show a couple saying that gay marriage was taught in their kids school or something like that. If this measure passes, it will be taught in political history that this passed in the State of California and what a battle between good and evil it was. If it doesn’t pass, it will be taught in schools as a triumph of good over evil for those standing against discrimination, in favor of tolerance. Either way, this proposition and what it represents will be taught in schools.
